Drew Timme and
Chet Holmgren were named the West Coast Conference Player and Freshman of the Week the league office announced Monday. The Zags sweep the conference honors in the first week of this season's awards.

Drew Timme, the preseason consensus National Player of the Year, looked the part in the first week of the season for top-ranked Gonzaga. He scored a career-high 37 points to go along with seven rebounds in Gonzaga's convincing 86-74 victory over No. 5 Texas on Saturday night. Timme, who poured in 22 of his 37 points in the first half, finished the contest 15-of-19 from the field. The returning All-American forward posted 11 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes of action in Tuesday's 97-63 win over Dixie State.

Chet Holmgren opened his collegiate career with 14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and seven blocks in Gonzaga's season-opening victory over Dixie State. The freshman center is the first player over the last 25 seasons among Division I players to record at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in their collegiate debut. Holmgren's seven blocks matched the most in a single game in program history under head coach
Mark Few. The freshman also recorded five rebounds and two blocks in nine minutes of action in the victory over No. 5 Texas.
