Gonzaga Records 11th Shutout of the Season in 2-0 Win

Zags close regular season home schedule with victory over USF

SPOKANE, Wash. — In their final home game of the regular season, the Gonzaga women's soccer team used a pair of second half goals to defeat San Francisco Wednesday, 2-0.
 
The Zags (14-5-0, 4-4-0 West Coast Conference) won third straight match and recorded their 11th shutout of the season, matching the program record set in 2005. GU added to its program record for wins in a single season at 14. This Bulldog squad also owns the program single season records for most goals (46), assists (38), points (128), shots (378) and shots on goal (188).
 
Gonzaga dominated the possession in the match at 62 percent, with 66 percent of that possession on the attacking side of the field. The Zags outshot USF 18-5, with a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. GU took all seven of the game's corner kicks.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs' Erin Healy scored her eighth goal of the season in the 51st minute. She made one dribble around the Dons' goalkeeper and struck a shot into the net. Isabelle Moultray recorded her fourth assist of the season.
 
In the 59th minute, Marissa Garcia made an impressive pass to Jordan Thompson who crossed the ball in front of the San Francisco net, the loose ball was kicked into the goal by a Don defender. Hannah Hale was the closest Zag on the own goal that gave GU a 2-0 lead.
 
Moultray led all players with five shots, while Kaylin Lunsford took three for USF (6-8-2, 2-5-0 WCC). Megan Nail made four saves in the San Francisco net, while Gonzaga's Lyza Bosselmann had one save.
 
The Bulldogs close the regular season at Loyola Marymount (0-18-0, 0-8-0) Saturday. The Lions fell at Santa Clara Wednesday, 6-0. Saturday's start time is scheduled for 4 p.m., with live video and stats on GoZags.com.
