THE TIP OFF
- No. 5/4 Gonzaga faces No. 25/24 Texas Tech in the 2021 Jerry Colangelo Classic in the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Ariz., Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the programs, and the Red Raiders have won all three of the previous matchups, including the latest in the 2019 NCAA Tournament West Regional Final in Anaheim, Calif. Texas Tech pulled away late, 76-69, to earn a trip to the Final Four.
- The Zags appear in the Associated Press poll for the 101st consecutive ranking, the longest current streak in the nation, with Villanova second at 45. Gonzaga is the only program in the country to appear in every AP poll since 2017, with a No. 5 average ranking. Since 2017, the Bulldogs have been in the Top 5 for a national-best 65 polls (64 percent of the 101 rankings). Kansas is second appearing in 62 polls.
- Gonzaga will have an eight-day break from games following a canceled game against Washington on Dec. 12, due to COVID protocols within the Huskies' program, and exam week at GU.
- The Bulldogs are coming off an 80-55 victory over Merrimack on Dec. 9.
Drew Timme led GU with 22 points on 8-for-8 shooting from the field.

SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Texas Tech has opened the season winning eight of its first nine games, including a 57-52 overtime win over No. 13 Tennessee in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 7.
- The Red Raiders are coming off a 75-62 win over Arkansas State Tuesday in Lubbock. Kevin McCullar led Texas Tech with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Adonis Arms added 15 points off the bench.
- Four Red Raiders currently average double-digit scoring led by Terrence Shannon Jr. and McCullar, who both score 14.3 points per game. McCullar adds a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game. Bryson Williams chips in 12.2 points at 57.7 percent shooting from the field. Mylik Wilson has dished out a team-high 26 assists this season.
- The Red Raiders are second in the nation rebound margin (14.6), fifth in scoring margin (22.2) and offensive rebounds per game (15.1).
- Texas Tech was picked fourth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll. Shannon, Jr. was Preseason All-League.

- Gonzaga faces Texas Tech in Phoenix as part of the third annual Jerry Colangelo Classic. This year's event features five games over two days, including four Saturday.
- The event is organized by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and will take place at Footprint Center, the home of the NBA's Phoenix Suns.
- One of the most innovative and influential owners in NBA history, Jerry Colangelo has spent most of his life involved with the game of basketball.
- In 1968, he became the youngest general manager in professional sports with the expansion Phoenix Suns. In only his second season with the new club, Colangelo turned the Suns into a legitimate playoff threat.
- In 1976, Colangelo received his first Sporting News NBA Executive of the Year award for taking the Suns to the NBA Finals.
- Since 2005, Colangelo has served as Managing Director of the USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team program, and he has served as he has served as Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame since 2009.

THE ZAGS RETURN TO THE VALLEY OF THE SUN
- Gonzaga has had its share of success in Phoenix, Ariz.
- Casey Calvary's famous tip-in gave GU a 73-72 win over Florida and propelled the Bulldogs to their first-ever Elite Eight in 1999. That Sweet 16 victory happened in the now-named Footprint Center.
- The Zags advanced to the program's first-ever Final Four in Phoenix in 2017. Gonzaga beat South Carolina in the semifinals, before falling to North Carolina in the national championships in the University of Phoenix Stadium.
