Gonzaga Athletics to Admit Immediate Family Members of Student-Athletes and Coaches

Spokane moves to Phase 2 for final two weeks of regular season

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University will allow immediate family members of student-athletes and coaches to attend games in the McCarthey Athletic Center beginning with the men's basketball game vs. Saint Mary's on Thursday night.

As part of Phase 2 of Washington's reopening plan, 200 people are allowed in the facility, a number that is inclusive of both teams, coaching staffs, officials, TV personnel, media, event staff, and custodians.

"While 200 total people is incredibly limiting, we are excited that our teams can now play in front of their families," said Director of Athletics Mike Roth.  "This season has been tough with no fans in the building but at least now parents can attend the final games and be here for Senior Night."

All attendees will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing, and will receive a temperature check as part of screening measures before entering the facility.

Gonzaga will similarly admit immediate family members at home volleyball, tennis, soccer and baseball this Spring.
