PROVO, Utah – The 16th-ranked BYU women's soccer team shut out Gonzaga, 4-0, Saturday.
The Cougars (8-3-0, 5-1-0 West Coast Conference) outshot GU 24-6, with a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. BYU scored a pair of goals in each half, outshooting the Zags 11-3 in the first half and 13-3 in the second.
Brigham Young's Makaylie Moore Call, assisted by Cameron Tucker, was first to score in the 10th minute. Just 15 minutes later, Tucker assisted Jamie Shepherd to a goal to give BYU a 2-0 lead at the break. In the 49th minute, Rachel McCarthy assisted Mikayla Colohan to another goal. Tucker, assisted by Moore Call, got the final goal in the 67th minute.
The Bulldogs (6-3-0, 4-2-0 West Coast Conference) took three shots in each half. BYU had an advantage in corner kicks with a total of nine, compared to Gonzaga's four. GU's Lyza Bosselmann had three saves, the same as BYU's Cassidy Smith.
