Men’s Soccer Falls in Los Angeles to LMU, 2-1

Lions outshot GU, 20-10, and placed eight shots on goal

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Loyola Marymount remained unbeaten this season with a 2-1 victory over the Gonzaga men's soccer Sunday.
 
The Lions (3-0-0, 2-0-0 West Coast Conference) placed eight shots on goal, and scored twice in the final 25 minutes of the match in the win. LMU outshot the Bulldogs, 20-10. GU had three shots on frame.
 
The first goal of the game didn't come until the 66th minute when LMU's Steven Anderson, assisted by Noel Caliskan and Duhaney Williams, scored. In the 82nd minute, Williams assisted Gerardo Lopez with a goal, which ended up being the game-winner. Just three minutes later in the 85th minute, the Zags' (2-5-0, 0-2-0 WCC) Andres Labate scored his first goal of the season. Chris Geanon was credited with the assist. Gonzaga was unable to find an equalizer in the final minutes.
 
Loyola Marymount's Ronaldo Brown took a game-high seven shots, with two on goal. GU's Demitrius Kigeya finished with four shots. Additionally, the Lions had an advantage in corner kicks with a total of 4 compared to Gonzaga's 1.
 
Gonzaga goalkeeper Johan Garibay played made six saves, while LMU's goalkeeper Jacob Jackson had two saves.
 
The Bulldogs travel to Moraga, Calif., for their next match next Sunday at 1 p.m., against Saint Mary's. Live video and stats will be available on GoZags.com.
