San Diego Scores Late and Defeats Men’s Soccer, 2-1

Zags outshot USD, 24-3, with 12 shots on goal

SPOKANE, Wash. – San Diego scored the game-winner in the 84th minute, in a 2-1 road win over Gonzaga men's soccer Saturday.
 
The Zags finished with a 24-3 advantage in shots, 12-2 in shots on goal, but fell to the Toreros (3-2-2, 3-1-2 West Coast Conference).
 
San Diego's first goal happened 32 minutes into the first half by Michael Wilkerson off a penalty kick. It was his first goal of the season.
 
Gonzaga scored the equalizer in the 67th minute when Demitrius Kigeya, assisted by Wylie Trujilo, got his second goal of the season. In the 84th minute, Owen Wiebe, assisted by Nicklas Clausen and Ross Meldrum, scored San Diego's second goal of the game to solidify their win.
 
The Bulldogs (2-9-0, 0-6-0 WCC) also had an advantage in corner kicks, 6-0.
 
Gonzaga split the halves between two goalkeepers, Finn Simmersbach and Johan Garibay, both made no saves. San Diego's goalkeeper Marley Mascarenas had 10 saves.
