Garcia and Hogan Break Program Records

Thirteen new Top-10 marks set Friday

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Gonzaga's Kristen Garcia set a new women's 5,000-meter record, while Peter Hogan ran the men's program's fastest 10,000-meter time at the OSU High Performance Meet. The men's and women's programs set 13 new Top-10 marks between meets at Oregon State and Whitworth Friday.
 
Garcia improved her own 5,000-meter program record with a 16:04.49 finish. She set the previous record on April 3 in Eugene at 16:10.72. Alicia Anderson crossed the line at 16:43.08 Friday, which is eighth all-time at GU.
 
Hogan won the 10,000 meters at the OSU High Performance with record-breaking time of 28:53.70. He finished nearly five seconds ahead of the 23-runner field. Teammate Kyle Radosevich was ninth at 29:51.72, which ranks sixth in program history. Dominic Arce's 30:04.89 finish is seventh all-time at GU. Hogan broke James Mwaura's previous record of 29:10.39, set at the NCAA West Prelims in 2019.
 
In the men's 5,000 meters, Yacine Guermali ran the second-fastest time in program history. The sophomore placed second in the race at 13:50.74, close behind Portland's Caleb Webb's first-place time of 13:46.51. Jackson Lyne won his section of the 5,000 meters at 14:57.87.
 
Ben Hogan climbed to third all-time at Gonzaga in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his 8:55.84 finish in Corvallis. He placed eighth in the event, followed by Alex Walde (8:58.17) and Cullen McEachern (9:01.50) in ninth and 10th. Walde's finish ranks fifth in program history, while McEachern now ranks seventh.
 
In the women's 1,500 meters, Ally Legard and Paxton Depoe ran the program's third and fifth best times ever. Legard's time of 4:28.06 was just ahead of Depoe's 4:32.80 finish. Claire Gillett (4:40.05) and Alyssa Bienfang (4:40.86) were fourth and fifth in their 1,500 section.
 
Brittany Hansen was fifth in her section of the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:22.44, while Sadie Tuckwood was seventh at 17:35.84.
 
In the women's 10,000 meters, Lauren Haas'36:15.60 is now No. 6 on the program's all-time list.
 
In Spokane, Ava Prunier-Herman ran the third-fastest 200-meter time in program history at 26.70. Four Zags finished in the Top-10 of the women's 1,500 meters at the Buc Scoring Invite, led by Makenna Edwards' 4:51.81 fourth-place finish.
