COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Gonzaga women's golf is in a tie for second place following the first round of the fourth annual Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational.
Quynn Duong leads the Bulldogs, tied for fourth on the leaderboard at even-par (71).
The Bulldogs had a 293 (+9) team total Sunday. GU was even-par on the course's Par-5 holes with a 5.00 average. Duong made five birdies and eight pars.
Gonzaga's
Cassie Kim and
Ivanna Montemayor are tied for sixth at one-over (72). Kim made 13 pars and two birdies on Day 1, leading the 93-golfer field with a 3.89 (-1) average on the course's Par-4 holes. Montemayor leads the tournament on Par-5 holes at three-under (4.25). She was one of two golfers to eagle a hole in Round 1.
Mary Scott Wolfe made 13 pars in the first round and is in a tie for 20th at three-over (74). Chaewon Beck is tied for 34th at five-over (76).
Kaysa Panke (+8, 79) and
Alyssa Nguyen (+14, 85) are tied for 68th and 92nd.
"A good opening round for us," GU Head Coach
Brad Rickel said. "We dealt with the cold and wind fairly well but believe we can shoot a lower team score here for sure. I'm happy for Ivanna with a great round in her first ever college golf tournament."
Hawaii leads the team leaderboard at six-over (290). Oral Roberts is tied with Gonzaga for second place. Millburn Ho of Florida International, Seattle's Rivekka Jumagulova and Hyeonji Kang of Hawaii are all tied for first at one-under (70).
