Women’s Soccer Rolls to 5-0 Win over Hawaii

Zags score four goals in second half

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga women's soccer scored four goals in the second half to ease away from Hawaii, 5-0, at Luger Field Thursday.
 
Coming off a 7-0 victory at Portland State, the Zags (4-1-0) continued their offensive dominance. The Bulldogs outshot Hawaii, 25-7, with a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal. GU owned 63 percent of the possession in the match, possessing the ball in the attacking half 63 percent of that.
 
Darcy Woodward had a goal and an assist, while Kelsey Oyler recorded two assists. Maddie Kemp and Oyler took a match-high five shots each, while Sophia Braun had four shots. Kemp placed three shots on frame.
 
Seven minutes into the match Kate Doyle gave Gonzaga the early lead on a rebound. The Zags scored three goals in a nine-minute span. Oyler and Isabelle Moultray were credited with assists on Braun's goal in the 61st minute. Kemp then scored her fourth goal of the season in the 65th minute off another assist from Oyler. Woodward's first goal of the season followed in the 69th minute with an assist from Kacy Johnston. Hannah Hale completed the scoring in the 78th minute with assists from Woodward and Lauren Elwer.
 
Gonzaga forced Hawaii's (1-2-1) Lauren Marquez into seven saves. The Bulldogs' Lyza Bosselman, Lauren Towne and Shyh Saenz all appeared in the GU net. Saenz made two saves.
