Zags Shutout Montana, 3-0

Oyler scores a goal and records an assist

SPOKANE, Wash. — Kelsey Oyler found the back of the net and recorded an assist in Gonzaga women's soccer's 3-0 victory over Montana at Luger Field Sunday.

Through the Bulldogs' (5-1-0) three matches at home this season, GU is outscoring opponents 12-0. In all six contests, the Zags have a 22-2 advantage in scoring. Gonzaga is outshooting Luger Field foes, 72-21, with a 38-7 shots on goal edge in shots on goal.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs outshot Montana, 25-7, placing 13 shots on frame to the Grizzlies' three. GU's Maddie Kemp took a game-high six shots. The Zags had all five of the match's corner kicks.

Gonzaga opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Kacy Johnston brought in a pass from Oyler and struck a shot from well outside the 18-yard box over the Montana (1-4-0) keeper. It was Johnston's first goal of the season, and Oyler's fifth assist.

Just eight seconds prior to halftime, Oyler scored her third goal of the season. She took a hard shot that was saved Camellia Xu, but then scored on her own rebound.

In the 75th minute, Kemp scored her fifth goal of the season. She dribbled through the defense and slid a shot past Xu at the near post.

Xu finished with 10 saves, while Gonzaga's Lyza Bosselmann had three saves.
