THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs host the University of San Diego this Saturday, Jan. 15, with a 2 p.m. tipoff.
- Gonzaga is coming off a dominant performance at the University of the Pacific. The Zags defeated the Tigers 92-51 and five players scored in double-digits for the Bulldogs, which was the first time that has happened since Feb. 9, 2019, against Portland.
- Freshman Bree Salenbien led the Bulldogs against Pacific with a career-best performance of 14 points as she shot 4-for-4 from beyond the arc in only 14 minutes of play. The other Zags in double figures were junior Kayleigh Truong (13), senior Melody Kempton (12), junior Kaylynne Truong (12) and Cierra Walker (10).
- Melody Kempton is leading GU with 11.6 points a game and also grabs an average of 5.5 rebounds a game. Sophomore Yvonne Ejim and senior Anamaria Virjoghe have both recorded 18 blocks so far this season. Virjoghe leads the team with 5.7 rebounds a game with Ejim right behind her with 5.6.
- GU is forcing an average of 13.8 turnovers per game and a total of 207 so far this season.
- The Zags are averaging 40.7 rebounds a game and a 11.3 rebound margin, which ranks seventh in the nation and first in the WCC.
- Offensively, Gonzaga averages 68.5 points per game. Against WCC teams so far this season, the Bulldogs have averaged 84 points.
