Gonzaga Athletics Events Update

Suspending food and beverage service at all ticketed athletic events

The emergence of the highly contagious Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 is raising concerns about increased transmission and the impact this is having upon our community and our health care system.  Mask-wearing has been scientifically demonstrated to reduce transmission in congregate settings, and opportunities to reduce mask-wearing create greater opportunity for viral transmission.

Therefore, on the recommendation of the Spokane Regional Health District, Gonzaga University is temporarily suspending food and beverage service at all ticketed athletic events, effective immediately. This applies to all in-venue concessions in the McCarthey Athletic Center as well as the Herak Club, Karen Gaffney Champions Room, and '63 Court hospitality spaces which will be closed during this suspension. Water will be available throughout the venue at fountains or for purchase at select spaces on the concourse.

As has been the rule, fans will not be permitted to bring food/beverage into athletic facilities. The University, in coordination with the Spokane Regional Health District, will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and communicate service adjustments.

We want to remind all attendees that the State has mandated that masks are to be worn at all times for event attendees regardless of vaccination status.  In addition to the current admittance requirement of proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test, Gonzaga University is encouraging eligible individuals to be fully vaccinated with boosters and follow all mandatory safety protocols to keep fans in The Kennel.
