Gonzaga and No. 22 Pepperdine Play to 1-1 Draw

Zags remain unbeaten in last six matches

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer tied No. 22 Pepperdine, 1-1, at Luger Field Wednesday. With the result, the Zags remain unbeaten in their last six matches.
 
The Bulldogs (6-2-3, 1-0-1 West Coast Conference) tied a ranked opponent for only the fourth time in program history, and the first time since a 2-2 draw with No. 25 Washington in 2015.
 
Gonzaga's Erin Healy scored her 21st career goal in the 12th minute. The senior moved to fourth all-time at GU with 49 career points. Her sixth goal of the season was assisted by Kate Doyle. In her five appearances this season, Doyle has recorded a point in four, with an assist in each of the last four games.  
In the 24th minute, the Waves' (7-1-3, 1-0-1 WCC) Leyla McFarland scored her fifth goal of the season to even the match. Trinity Watson was credited with the assist.
 
The Bulldogs outshot Pepperdine 19-12 with an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. GU also had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Doyle took a game-high six shots, while the Waves' Tori Waldeck had five. Ellie Sommers made seven saves in the Pepperdine net, while Lyza Bosselmann had four for the Zags.  
Gonzaga returns to the road and plays at San Diego Saturday at 7 p.m. The Toreros (2-7-3, 0-2-0) fell to No. 15 Portland, 2-0, Thursday. Live video and stats for GU's game against San Diego will be available on GoZags.com.
