SPOKANE, Wash. -- Earlier today, the Gonzaga women's tennis team split up to perform in both the USC Hidden Duel and the Long Beach State Tournament. This was the first time the Zags have divided their team to play in two separate tournaments since the 2017-2018 season, when Gonzaga performed in both the ITA All-American Championships and Bulldog Invitational.
At the USC Hidden Duel, action today started with a competitive doubles competition. Facing the University of Southern California's (USC) Sloane Morra and Emma Charney, Gonzaga's
Cate Broerman and
Jenna Sloan earned a 6-4 victory. In the other doubles match, USC's Gabrielle Lee and McKenna Koenig earned a 7-6 win over Gonzaga's
Tiegan Aitken and
Caroline Wernli.
In the singles competition, Broerman continued her excellent start to the fall season by earning a dominant 7-5, 6-3 win over Charney in the No.1 spot. Today's victories moved Broerman's overall match record on the fall season to 11-3.
Today's competitive singles competition continued as Koenig claimed a 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 court two win over Sloan. Performing on court three, Aitken battled hard, but also lost her singles match against USC's Nathalie Rodilosso by a score of 7-6, 6-1. Finally, on court four, Wernli clinched a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Lee in the match of the day for the Zags.
At the Long Beach State Tournament,
Kianna Oda and
Maria Frampton represented Gonzaga in the singles competition. Opening up the day for Gonzaga, Oda earned a back-and-forth 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Long Beach State University's Justine Dondonay. Later in the day, Frampton battled hard, but lost in her singles match against CSUN's Jasmine Tolmoyan by a score of 6-3, 6-1.

For the Gonzaga women's tennis team members who are currently performing at the USC Hidden Duel tournament, they will continue their participation in the tournament tomorrow, when they face UC Santa Barbara.
Oda and Frampton will also continue their participation in the singles competition of the Long Beach State Tournament tomorrow, with Oda's match scheduled at 11 am and Frampton's match scheduled for 12:30 pm.
