- The Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss against Marquette in the second round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, 70-66. Three Zags scored in double figures including
Kaylynne Truong, Brynna Maxwell and
Eliza Hollingsworth. Senior starter
Kayleigh Truong did not play in the game due to an injury sustained in the previous game versus Louisville.Â
- Prior to the loss to Marquette, the Bulldogs had their highest ranked victory over No. 6/4 Louisville in overtime, 79-67.Â
- The Zags have six players currently averaging double digits in the first five games of the season, including
Yvonne Ejim (17.2), Brynna Maxwell (13.8), Eliza Hollingsowrth (11.8),
Kaylynne Truong (12) and
Kayleigh Truong (10.3).

Yvonne Ejim was just shy of her second double double this season against Marquette as she scored nine points and hauled in 11 rebounds.Â
- Gonzaga is currently shooting at 80.2 percent from the charity stripe. Brynna Maxwell leads the team with 90.7 percent from the free throw line.Â
- This is the second year in a row that the Zags have traveled somewhere tropical around the holidays as GU won the Rainbow Wahine Showdown tournament last year in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- The Zags are receiving votes in the most recent AP Poll and USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
- The Bulldogs were recently picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.

Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22.
Kayleigh Truong earned All-WCC First Team honors after her performance in 2021-22. Â
Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.Â
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under head coach

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This marks the fifth time the Zags and the Lady Vols have met in program history. The Bulldogs are currently 0-4 against Tennessee with the series dating back to 2006.  Â
STREAK: Tennessee - 4Â Â
FIRST MEETING: The Bulldogs and Lady Vols met in 2006 at the Paradise Jame in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Tennessee won the neutral game 79-65.  Â
LAST MEETING: In 2015, UT traveled to Spokane for the NCAA Regional Semifinals to compete against Gonzaga. In an overtime thriller, the Lady Vols came out on top, 73-69. The other two meetings between the programs was a home-and-home series in 2008 and 2009.  Â
SCOUTING THE LADY VOLS
- Senior forward Rickea Jackson has emerged as the Lady Vols' scoring leader the past four games, tallying 24, 17, 26 and 14 points after opening the season with nine points at Ohio State. She is averaging 20.3 points per game during that span and 18.0 for the season.
- Jordan Horston has scored in double figures in every game she has completed in this season, averaging 14.3 ppg. over those three contests. She was injured in the second quarter vs. UMass and also missed the next contest vs. Indiana.Â
- Marta Suárez, who missed all of last season due to an injury and recovery, has produced 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field over the past two games in The Bahamas. She has led UT on the boards the past two contests.
Tennessee got to the free-throw line 31 times vs. UCLA and is averaging 16.0 points per contest at the charity stripe.
- UT limited UCLA to an opponent-low five second-chance points on Sunday.
- Tamari Key has had her productivity limited offensively over the past two games, but she has continued to be a defensive presence. She blocked five shots vs. Rutgers and three vs. UCLA.
