THE TIP OFF
- The Zags host the University of Maine in the first meeting between the two programs on Monday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. This is also the first game against an American East conference opponent for GU.Â
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off a historic win over the University of Tennessee, 73-72, at the Battle 4 Atlantis. The win marked GU's first win over the storied Lady Vols program as Gonzaga finished third overall in the tough field in the Bahamas.
Yvonne Ejim led the team with 22 points, with 20 of those coming in the second half. She scored the eventual game winning shot to propel the Zags on top of the Lady Vols. It marked GU's second ranked win in three days as Gonzaga also defeated then No. 6/4 Louisville in overtime, 79-67.
- The Zags have four players currently averaging double digits in the first five games of the season, including
Yvonne Ejim (18), Brynna Maxwell (13),
Kaylynne Truong (12.3) and

Yvonne Ejim was just shy of her second double double this season against Tennessee as she scored 22 points and hauled in nine rebounds.Â
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 81.8 percent from the free throw line. In the fourth quarter alone against UT, the team went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
- Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 57.1 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the West Coast Conference and third nationally.
- The Zags are receiving votes in the most recent AP Poll and USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.

Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22.

Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.Â

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
- The Black Bears have won two of their last three after most recently coming off a 73-57 victory over Niagara in the conclusion of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic.Â
- Olivia Rockwood leads Maine in scoring, checking in 20th among America East leaders at 9.7 points per game. Rockwood leads the America East with 2.7 triples per game and is shooting 37.2 percent from downtown.Â
- Sera Hodgson, fresh off a 22 points effort, leads the conference and ranks seventh in the nation with
a 56.5 percent mark from three point range.Â
- Caroline Bornemann, fresh off her second career double-double, has tallied double-digits in each of her last two games and enters play at 9.5 points per game. Bornemann ranks third in the America East at 8.0 rebounds per game. Adrianna Smith ranks in the top five among America East leaders in both rebounding (7.7) and assists with a team-high 3.3 dimes per game.Â
- Maine ranks fourth in the America East in scoring defense, allowing 62.0 points per game.Â
- The Black Bears will be without leading scorer Anne Simon who an undetermined amount of time after the senior guard suffered a lower leg injury in Maine's game against Yale.
