No. 23/25 WBB Travels to SFA on Thursday

The Zags then travel to No. 2 Stanford on Sunday, Dec. 4 with a noon tipoff

THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball team hits the road to take on Stephen F. Austin. This will be the first road game against the Ladyjacks as the Zags defeated SFA, 64-54, last season in the Kennel. 
- GU is coming off a 62-43 home win against Maine on Nov. 28. Kaylynne Truong led the way with 15 points for GU and Brynna Maxwell was right behind her with 13. Yvonne Ejim and Eliza Hollingsworth both scored 10 points with Ejim grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Calli Stokes also recorded a career-high seven rebounds for Gonzaga.
- The Zags have four players currently averaging double digits in the first seven games of the season, including Yvonne Ejim (16.9), Brynna Maxwell (13), Kaylynne Truong (12.7) and Eliza Hollingsworth (10.4). 
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 79.3 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks 14th in the country. 
- Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 57.1 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the West Coast Conference and third nationally.
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 40.5 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked seventh in the nation and first in the WCC. 
- This game marks a homecoming for the Truong twins as they are from Houston, Texas. 
- The Zags are ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll and No. 25 in the Coaches Poll.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Seniors Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and junior Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22. Kayleigh Truong earned All-WCC First Team honors after her performance in 2021-22.  Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under head coach Lisa Fortier.

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This marks the second game between the two programs.     
STREAK: Gonzaga - 1 
FIRST AND LAST MEETING: The Zags won, 64-54, last season at the McCarthey Athletic Center. Senior Cierra Walker and junior Kaylynne Truong both scored 18 points for Gonzaga, marking a career-best for Truong and a career-high at GU for Walker. The Zags ended the game in a dominant fashion as they went on a 14-2 run in the final three minutes of regulation. Defensively, GU held SFA to only 1-of-7 from the field in the final part of the game and Gonzaga went a perfect 4-for-4 to close out the win.

SCOUTING THE LADYJACKS
- The Ladyjacks are currently sitting at 5-1 on the year. 
- SFA is coming off a successful Clasico Thanksgiving Tournament as the Ladyjacks went 2-0 with wins over Morgan State and Boston College.
- Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team was ranked No. 1 in Preseason WAC Coaches and Media Poll. The WAC also named Aiyana Johnson as the Preseason Player of the Year and was named to the Preseason All-WAC First Team in the coaches' and media polls. SFA received nine first place votes, while UT Arlington and Grand Canyon each received two.
- SFA is currently averaging 75.3 points a game so far this year and scored a season-high of 100 earlier this season.
- Stephen F. Austin's only loss this year was on Nov. 10 at Rice, 77-89.
- Four different players are averaging double figures for SFA. Aiyana Johnson leads the way with 14.3 ppg while also grabbing 7.3 rebounds a game. 
- Stephen F. Austin is currently undefeated at home with a 2-0 record. The previous two home games were against UTSA (68-63) and Texas Southern (100-63). The Ladyjacks haven't played at home since Nov. 13.
- Gonzaga is the lone WCC opponent the Ladyjacks will face this year.
