SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team closed out the home slate with a 1-1 tie against the University of San Francisco.
Prior to the game, the Zags honored 11 seniors that have made a huge impact to the Gonzaga men's soccer program.
After 45 minutes of play, the Bulldogs and the Dons were both scoreless. The Dons outshot Gonzaga in the first half, 9-7. The Zags had three of those shots on goal with
Johnny Hansen, Davis Gideon and
Demitrius Kigeya recording one each.
In the second half, Logan Dorsey received a penalty kick and cashed in on the opportunity to get the Zags on the board, 1-0, in the 47th minute.
San Francisco responded in the 69th minute with a goal from Arjan Dosanjh, which was assisted by Kian Jones, to tie the game up at 1-1.
Frankie Ljucovic quickly took a shot on goal a minute after USF's score, but was saved by goalkeeper Eric Waltz. Wylie Trujillo took another shot on goal less than a minute later, but another save was made to keep it even at 1-1.
Overall, Gonzaga outshot the Dons 16-15 with taking six shots on goal. Kiegya led the team with four shots and one on goal.
Johnny Hansen and Loic Buares also recorded three shots a piece on the day.
Senior goalkeeper
Johan Garibay made three saves on the day as the Zags only allowed four shots on goal.
Records: GU moves to 4-10-3 on the year with all three of its ties coming in conference play as Gonzaga sits at 0-3-3 in the West Coast Conference. San Francisco goes to 7-5-1 overall and 0-4-2 in the WCC.
