SPOKANE, Wash. -- Earlier today, the Gonzaga men's tennis team continued their participation in the Gonzaga Invitational fall tournament.
Opening up the day with the doubles competition, three pairs of Zags advanced to the Finals of their respective brackets. Before the doubles matches began, Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan and Gus Krauel advanced to the White doubles Final after their opponents withdrew because of injury. Wanting to play an extra match, the Gonzaga pair faced Eastern Washington's Erik Sarlvik and Steven Paz, winning 8-2 in dominant fashion. The Gonzaga Invitational is the first time that Krauel and Gomez Galvan have paired for doubles this season.
Gonzaga's Leon Roider and Sasha Trkulja also advanced to the White doubles Final with an excellent 8-2 win over Idaho's Mario Duron and Bruno Casino. In the Blue doubles Consolation Semifinals, Gonzaga's Martin Bats and Arthus de la Bassetiere clinched an 8-2 victory over Montana's Moritz Stoeger and Tom Bittner, becoming the third Gonzaga pair to advance to the Finals of the doubles competition.
Today's singles competition of the Main Draw produced multiple competitive matches, and saw three Zags advance to Semifinals round. In the Blue singles Quarterfinals, Trkulja earned an early victory for the Zags, easily dispatching Washington's Brett Pearson 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets. Shortly after, Roider also advanced to the Blue singles Semifinals with his 6-4, 6-1 win against Idaho's Francisco Gay.
Two more Zags battled tough competition in the White singles Quarterfinals. Performing against Eastern Washington's Simon Kuszynski, Gomez Galvan clinched a spot in the White singles Semifinals by defeating Portland State's Simon Kuszynski 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets. The Quarterfinal round of the Main Draw concluded when Krauel battled, but fell 6-3, 6-2 to Idaho's Alejandro Salvador.
In the Semifinals of the singles Main Draw, two Zags advanced to the Finals. For the second consecutive year, Gomez Galvan clinched a spot in the White singles Final, as he defeated Montana's Guillermo Martin 6-3, 6-2 in straight sets. In the Blue singles Semifinals, Roider and Trkulja squared off for a chance to make the Blue singles Final, with Trkulja winning the competitive match by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Gonzaga was also well represented within the singles competition of the Consolation bracket. In the Quarterfinals of the Blue Consolation singles bracket, Gonzaga's Tom Hann won his match against Portland State's Jan Semerak 6-4, 7-5 in straight sets. Later in the day, Hann advanced to the Blue singles Consolation Final with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Eastern Washington's Steven Paz.

The Gonzaga men's tennis team finish their participation in the Gonzaga Invitational tomorrow, as play starts at 9 am. Tomorrow's action will conclude the fall tournament season for the Zags, as the team will get some well-earned rest before starting the spring duel season in the early months of 2023.
In the Main Draw doubles competition, Roider and Trkulja will face Portland State's Andrea Brignacca and Jan Semerak in the White doubles Final, and Gomez Galvan and Krauel will play Montana's Fernando Perez and Gullermo Martin in the Blue doubles Final. Gonzaga's participation in the doubles competition will close with Bats and Bassetiere facing Montana's Gustav Thielgaard and George Russell for the White doubles Consolation Final.
For the singles competition, Gonzaga will look to clinch championships in two different brackets. In the Main Draw, Trkulja will face Montana's Tom Bittner in the Blue singles Final, and Gomez Galvan will perform in the White singles Final against Montana's George Russell. Hann's championship match in the Blue Consolation bracket will not be played.
