THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball continues West Coast Conference play this Saturday, Dec. 31 at Loyola Marymount. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. in the Gersten Pavilion.
- GU is traveling from Pepperdine as the Bulldogs won against the Waves, 77-53, on Thursday.
Kaylynne Truong hit six 3-pointers and scored 26 points, both career highs. The victory marked the Bulldogs' sixth-straight win and 13th-straight over the Waves.
Yvonne Ejim added 17 points and
Eliza Hollingsworth had 16 and both grabbed nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Brynna Maxwell scored 10, eight in the second quarter when the Zags took control.
- The Zags have four players currently averaging double digits in the first 15 games of the season, including
Yvonne Ejim (16.1),
Kaylynne Truong (15.9),
Brynna Maxwell (14.5), and
Eliza Hollingsworth (11.2). Ejim currently is fourth and Truong is fifth in the WCC in scoring. Maxwell also is ninth in the conference.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 80.5 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks first in the country and first in the West Coast Conference.
Brynna Maxwell leads the team individually with 97.8 percent, which also leads the nation.

Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 53.8 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the country.
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 40.2 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked fifth in the nation and first in the WCC.
- Gonzaga is currently on a six-game winning streak as the team goes on its first WCC roadtrip of the season. This marks the first time on the road for the Zags since Dec. 4 when they played No. 2 Stanford.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.

Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22.
Kayleigh Truong earned All-WCC First Team honors after her performance in 2021-22.
Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.

Lisa Fortier.

SERIES INFO: This will be the 74th matchup between the two programs and the Zags hold a 52-21 record over the Lions.
STREAK: Gonzaga - 29
FIRST MEETING: In 1985, the Zags won 100-78 on the road.
LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs went 2-0 against LMU last year. The second game of the year was an 83-62 victory for Gonzaga.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- LMU is currently 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
- Ariel Johnson leads the way with 14 points a game and 90 percent from the free throw line. She currently ranks 11th in the WCC for her scoring efforts so far this season.
- Alexis Mark grabs a team-high average of 5.9 rebounds while also scoring 11.1 points a game.
- LMU's lone win in the WCC was at San Francisco on Dec. 17 when the Lions won 68-59. Since then they have lost to Santa Clara (61-46) and most recently Portland (70-61) on Dec. 29.
- In preseason polls, LMU was picked to finish seventh in the WCC. Ariel Johnson was the one LMU player to be named to the All-WCC Preseason team as well.
