RV/RV WBB Hosts Pacific on Thursday

The Zags return to The Kennel after going 2-0 in California last week

THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs host University of the Pacific on Thursday, Feb. 3. 
- Gonzaga is coming off a its sixth-straight win with a 69-43 win at San Diego. Senior Cierra Walker led the team with 21 points, which was a career-high for her in a Zags jersey. 
- Both Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truon leads the team with 11.1 points a game. Kaylynne is averaging 3.7 assists a game, while Kayeligh is averaging 3.3 after having to miss three games earlier this season. Senior Melody Kempton is leading the team in boards with 6.1 a game. while averaging 25.5 minutes a game. Sophomore Yvonne Ejim and senior Anamaria Virjoghe both are both tied with a team-high 25 blocks as Ejim also brings in 5.6 rebounds a game. 
- Cierra Walker is ranked 17th in the country and first in the WCC in three-point field-goal percentage as she has averasged 43.4 percent this year. 
- Melody Kempton is currently ranked second in the conference in field-goal percentage at 56.3 percent. 
- From the charity stripe, the Zags are first in the WCC in free throws made (269) and free-throw percentage (78.2), which also ranks 11th in the nation.
- Defensively, the Bulldogs are first in the confernce in scoring defense with 55.5 points. The team also forces 14.5 a game and a total of 289 this year. 
- The Zags are averaging 40.4 rebounds a game and a 10.8 rebound margin, which ranks fifth in the nation. 
- In conference games this year, GU has an average margin of victory by 17.4 points.
- The Bulldogs will face six teams that were part of the 2021 NCAA Tournament during the 2021-22 campaign. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year under head coach Lisa Fortier.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and seven letterwinners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' fifth consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title.
-The Zags won their ninth WCC Tournament Title in 2021 with a thrilling victory over BYU in the championship game.

IN THE POLLS: GU has received votes in every week's coaches poll, except for two weeks this year as the team is currently receiving votes in the AP and Coaches Poll this week.         

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Pacific currently is 5-13 overall and 2-5 in the WCC.
- The one common non-conference opponent between Gonzaga and Pacific is Stanford as the Tigers lost 91-62 to then-ranked No. 4 Stanford on the road.
- Pacific is coming off its second WCC win over Santa Clara on Monday, Jan. 31, 74-69. The other conference win for the Tigers was against Pepperdine, when the team won 65-58.
- Freshman Anaya James currently leads Pacific with an average of 14.4 points a game. She has made 24 three pointers this season and also leads the team in assists with 71 recorded. She has notched five WCC Freshman Player of the Week awards so far this season.
- Elizabeth Elliot leads the Tigers with 5.9 rebounds a game and has the second-best scoring performances by averaging 12.9 points a game.
- In preseason polls, Pacific was picked to finish 10th overall in the WCC
