FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team had a battle with Colorado State, but ultimately fell, 4-2, to CSU.
The Zags started off strong after claiming in the doubles point. On court No. 1,
Cate Broerman and
Adrianna Sosnowska won 6-4 to clinch the point.
Frederikke Svarre and
Jenna Sloan were the second team off the court with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot.
Kianna Oda and
Tiegan Aitken teamed up in the second spot, but fell, 6-1.
Going into singles competition up 1-0, Gonzaga continued playing some tough matches against CSU.
The first Bulldog off the court was Svarre, who fell 2-6, 4-6, in the No. 3 court versus Radka Buzkova, to even it at 1-1 overall.
Sosnowska was the next one that finished as she went to a three-set battle on court No. 2. She won 5-7, 6-1, 6-1, over Somer Dalla-Bona, to give Gonzaga the 2-1 lead in the match.
Broerman also had a three-set battle in the No. 1 spot. She won her first set 6-4, but then fell 4-6, in the next two sets.Â
Sloan had a close match in the No. 4 position as she fell 6-7 (5) and then 3-6 in the second set.Â
The No. 5 singles match ended up clinching the match for CSU as Oda had another three-set battle. In the first set, Oda won 6-4. She then fell 4-6 and 2-6, in the next two sets on court No. 5.Â
Aitken also played on court six and fell 3-6 in her first set but won her second 6-2 before the match went unfinished.
