SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team battled hard against Texas State, but fell short, 4-3, in their third-straight road match. After being down 3-0 on the match, GU attempted a comeback by winning three-straight, before the Bobcats clinched it at 4-3.

In the doubles matches, the Zags took one match on court three with Jenna Sloan and Frederikke Svarre teaming up to defeat Renata Gonzalez and Kylee Shannon, 6-1. The next court finished was Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska on court one as they fell 6-3 to Hana Kvapilova and Kate Malazonia. Texas State clinched the doubles point on court two as Kianna Oda and Tiegan Aitken fell to Mae McCutcheon and Jadeh Chan, 6-3.

In singles, Svarre's match finished first on court three as she fell 6-4, 6-2, to McCutcheon as the Zags dropped to 2-0 in the match. Broerman was the next match to complete in the No. 1 spot, falling 6-2, 6-4 to Kvapilova. 

The Zags battled back down from 3-0 to tie it at 3-3 all with three straight matches. Oda defeated Maria Lora in the No. 4 position, 6-2, 6-2, to cut GU's deficit to 3-1. Aitken then won her match on court five against Chan, 6-2, 7-5.

With the match being at 3-2 overall, Caroline Wernli won her match over Gonzalez in the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-4. 

The final match of the day was a tough battle for Sosnowska on court two. In the first set, she fell 1-6, but came back to win the second one, 7-6 (10-8). The final set also went to a tiebreaker, where Sosnowska fell 6-7 (2-7) as Texas State clinched the win.

Records: The Zags move to 6-5 on the year and Texas State improves to 4-7.

Up Next: The Bulldogs return to the Stevens Center Friday, March 18, to take on Washington State University. The match is set to begin at Noon.
