LOWELL, Ore. -- The Gonzaga men's rowing team opened the spring season with a dual at Oregon State. The regatta took place at Lowell State Park.
In the Varsity 8 race, GU finished in 6:10.6, behind OSU's 6:05.3 first-place time. In the JV8 competition, the Zags finished second with a time of 6:22.6. OSU finished in 6:27.9 in the same race.
The last competition of the day was the 3V8 boat. Gonzaga finished in third with a time of 7:15.6. The winning boat finished in 6:48.0 for Oregon State.
"With not a lot of water time I thought the racing was good," head coach
Dan Gehn said. "Both JV8 and V8 really battled in the first 1000 of their races. It was good racing experience to build on going into the San Diego Crew Classic."
Up Next: The Bulldogs compete at the San Diego Crew Classic on March 26-27.
