SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team was defeated earlier in a home match against BYU, 4-0. 

The doubles competition began with BYU's Anastasia Abramyan and Bobo Huang earning a 6-1 court two victory over Gonzaga's Jenna Sloan and Frederikke Svarre.

In spot No.3, BYU's Emilee Astle and Kara Lin clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Gonzaga's Adrianna Sosnowska and Tiegan Aitken. Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Kianna Oda's court one match against BYU's Helen Jiao and Leah Heimuli went unfinished, as BYU had already clinched the doubles point. 

As the singles competition began, BYU increased their lead as Lin claimed a 6-0, 6-3 court six victory over Gonzaga's Carolina Wernli. On court five, BYU's Madison Smith defeated Aitken in a back-and-forth match, by the score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Abramyan helped BYU clinch the victory with a competitive 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Broerman on court one. 

All other matches went unfinished, as BYU had already clinched the 4-0 victory. 

Up next: The Zags stay home after today's match, as they face San Diego on Sunday, March 27th at 10 am. Today's match begins a nine-game stretch against WCC opponents.
