SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The Gonzaga men's rowing team finished racing today at the San Diego Crew Classic.
The varsity boat placed third place out of six boats, with a time of 06:13.20 in the Copley Cup. A.S.R Nereus finished first with a 6:07.045 time. This marks a program best for the Zags in the event. The last best finish in the Copley Cup was back in 2018, when Gonzaga finished fourth overall with a 6:32.358 finishing time.
The 2V8 boat ended up in fourth place out of six boats, with a time of 06:31.16 in the Sharp Memorial Cup final. UC San Diego took first with a time of 6:23.397.
"I thought both boats got the most out of their race experience this weekend," head coach Dan Gehn said. "Varsity 8 was just a gritty and gutsy race out of lane five. They just didn't give up. JV8 had a rough start, but they had a strong finish to their race."
Up Next: Gonzaga will compete against Washington State in Spokane on April 9th. The regatta marks the only home competition in the fall for the Bulldogs.
