MTEN: No. 55 Zags Fall to No. 22 Pepperdine, 4-0

The Bulldogs return to Stevens Center on April 15

MALIBU, Calif. – The No. 55 Gonzaga men's tennis team had a match earlier today against No. 22 Pepperdine and lost 4-0. With today's loss, the Zags have a WCC record of 4-2, which includes winning four of their last five matchups against WCC opponents. 

Today's match opened with Pepperdine's Andrew Rogers and Corrado Summaria's court two match against Gonzaga's Leon Roider and Tom Hann being retired at a score of 2-1.

On court one, Pepperdine's Daniel De Jonge and Eero Vasa earned a 6-1 victory over Gonzaga's Matthew Hollingworth and Sasha Trkulja. The doubles point was clinched for Pepperdine when Enrique Rico Luque and Tim Zeitvogel defeated Gonzaga's Oliver Andersson and Theo McDonald 6-1. 

Moving to the singles competition, Pepperdine's lead expanded when Zeitvogel defeated Hollingworth 6-1, 6-0 on court two. In the No.6 spot, Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan competed against Luque, and fell 6-1, 6-1. The match was clinched for the Waves when Trjkulja fell to De Jonge on court one, 7-6, 6-1.

As Pepperdine had clinched the 4-0 victory, all other singles matches went unfinished. 

Up next: After today's loss, the Gonzaga men's tennis team have a home match against Pacific University next Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. Gonzaga has a 0-6 record historically against Pacific, but three of the matches have been decided by a single team point.
