SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team had a competitive match today at Santa Clara University and ended up on top with a 4-3 comeback victory. 

Starting with the doubles competition, Gonzaga's Frederikke Svarre and Jenna Sloan earned a 6-2 court two victory over SCU's JennaMarie Gordon and Finley Kalinic.

On court one, SCU tied the doubles competition when Giulia Hayer and Katherine Petty defeated Gonzaga's Kianna Oda and Adrianna Sosnowska 6-2. The doubles competition was clinched for SCU after Jamie Schroer and Varya Zlotnik claimed a 6-4 win over Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Tiegan Aitken in the No. 3 spot. 

Moving to the singles competition, SCU expanded their lead when Velizara Fileva defeated Svarre 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 on court four.

Gonzaga earned their first team point of the day when Broerman claimed the 6-2, 7-6 victory over Kalinic in the No. 1 spot. Aitken helped tie the match for Gonzaga when she earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 court six victory against Hayer. 

SCU broke the tie when Gordon defeated Sosnowska 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on court three. With the match on the line, Sloan helped once again to tie the match with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 gritty victory over Schroer on court two.

In the No. 5 spot, Oda helped complete the comeback and clinch the match for Gonzaga when she defeated Petty 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. 

Up next: The Gonzaga women's tennis team has a home match next against Pepperdine on Friday, April 8th at 2 p.m. As of this week in the ITA rankings, the Pepperdine women's tennis team is ranked No. 5 in the nation.
