SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's basketball head coach
Lisa Fortier announced the addition of graduate student Brynna Maxwell on Wednesday. Maxwell, a 6-foot guard transfer from the University of Utah, will join the Zags in the fall of 2022. Maxwell is graduating from Utah with a degree in communications and will have two years of eligibility.

Maxwell is a two-time All-Pac-12 honorable mention and started in 63 games at Utah and played a total of 85. During her freshman year, she was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman first-team and became the first freshman for Utah since joining the Pac-12 to earn Pac-12 All-Conference honors. She currently ranks fifth all-time in program history in threes made in a season with 83 in 2019-20. Maxwell also has scored double figures in 52 games.
In the 2021-22 season, Maxwell averaged 10.5 points and 20.5 minutes a game. She had a season-high 24 points against Lipscomb in the Ute's season opener. She also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds against Utah Valley and was just one point shy of reaching a double double.
Maxwell had a career-high performance against Oregon State in 2020 with 34 points. Overall, she averaged 12 points and 25.6 minutes a game for the Utes. She also had 66 steals and 93 assists while grabbing 269 rebounds in her career at Utah.
In high school, she was the 3A State Player of the Year, Tacoma Tribune All-Area Player of the Year and the Gateway's Gig Harbor Female Athlete of the Year as a senior after leading her team to a state championship.
In state tournaments, she has the record in total points (83) and average points (27.7). A four-star recruit coming out of high school, she also has the school record for total points (1,968), points in a season (671 in 2019) and points in a game (48 in 2019). She averaged 26.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.6 steals per game as a senior.
Coach Fortier on Maxwell: Brynna is going to be a great addition to our team. She is a great shooter, and has a team mentality.
