CHANDLER, Ariz. – Gonzaga men's golf completed the final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday at Whirlwind Golf Club. After the second round was suspended on Monday because of darkness, play resumed on Tuesday morning with the conclusion of Round 2 before the final round began.

The Bulldogs finished in 20th place with a combined score of eight-over (872). GU completed the second round on Tuesday morning, shooting five-over (293) before heading back out for Round 3, where they shot three-over (291). Gonzaga accumulated 164 pars and 47 birdies for the tournament.

Despite the suspension of Round 2, Holden Backes returned to the course on Tuesday to finish a nearly bogey-free round, shooting three-under (69). In Round 3, Backes turned in a score of even-par (72), finishing in a tie for 40th place at even-par (216). The Yakima native tallied 36 pars and 11 birdies throughout the tournament.

Charlie Magruder finished the second round at two-over (74) before posting a score of two-under (70) in the final round. He tied for 51st with a total score of one-over (217), making 31 pars and 13 birdies along the way.

Matthew Ruel finished in a tie for 100th at eight-over (224) after carding scores of two-over (74) and five-over (77) in the final two rounds. He led the Zags with 37 pars for the tournament and added six birdies. Zach Stocker shot even-par (72) in Round 3 and finished in a tie for 106th at nine-over (225). Clayton Thatcher tied for 113th at 11-over (227).

Long Beach State's Isaac Rodea started and finished the day atop the individual leaderboard, taking home the individual title with a score of 13-under (203). Three golfers finished a stroke behind Rodea at 12-under (204), including San Diego State's Zihao Jin and Steve Sugimoto, who led the Aztecs (-39, 825) to the team title.

Gonzaga is back in action next week at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational on April 11-12. The two-day tournament will be played at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta, California. Live scoring will be available at GoZags.com.
