Timme Declares for NBA Draft

Zags’ junior was two-time All-American

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga junior Drew Timme announced Thursday that he submitted his name for the 2022 NBA Draft.

"One of the best decisions I have ever made was to come to Spokane and Gonzaga University to play basketball in front of Zag Nation," Timme said. "I have had the privilege to play with and be supported by the best coaches, teammates, fans, friends and family anyone could ask for. I have forever been changed into better person and basketball player because of that opportunity!

"The dream has always been to play professionally. After lots of thought and discussion, I will be putting my name in the NBA Draft."

Timme was named a John R. Wooden Award Player of the Year Finalist, Wooden All-American, and Second Team All-American by Sporting News, the Associated Press, NABC and USBWA.

Timme, a Preseason All-American and the 2022 West Coast Conference Player of the Year was named First Team All-Conference the last two seasons, after being named All-Freshman in 2019-20. He topped the West Coast Conference averaging 18.4 points per game and was first scoring 18.5 points per WCC outing. The junior was third in the conference shooting 58.6 percent from the field, which ranks 20th in the nation. He was sixth in the WCC grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game, and eighth blocking 0.78 shots per game.

Timme won the Karl Malone Award last season and is a finalist for this season's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. He averaged 27.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in this season's NCAA Tournament. The Dallas, Texas, native, tops the program with 204 points in nine appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He ranks 15th in program history with 1,521 points and 15th with 617 rebounds.

"Thank you to all of those who have been a part of my journey so far. A special thanks to Coach Few and the entire GU athletic staff. The love and support have made my years at GU some of the best I will ever experience!"

Timme helped GU qualify for three NCAA Tournaments and has been a key piece to two trips to the Sweet 16, and an appearance in the national championship game. The Zags have won a national best 90 games over the past three seasons, going 43-2 in West Coast Conference play with three league regular season titles and three WCC Tournament titles.
