SPOKANE, Wash. – Efton Reid III a transfer from Louisiana State, signed a financial aid agreement to attend Gonzaga University and will join the men's basketball team for the 2022-23 season.
Reid, a 7-0 238-pound center, will be a sophomore for the Zags in 2022-23.

Reid was the only LSU player to start all 34 games this past season. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while playing 19.6 minutes per contest. The Richmond, Va., native, made 51.9 percent from the field (97-187) with five three-pointers. He had seven games in double figures, topped by 16 points in the 2021-22 season-opener against Louisiana-Monroe. He also scored 15 points versus Northwestern State and 14 against Wake Forest in the championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic. Reid had one double-double, also grabbing 10 rebounds against Northwestern State. He was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor in the SEC Tournament win over Missouri, scoring 12 points.
On the defensive end, Reid blocked 26 shots last season. He had three blocked shots against Kentucky and Belmont.
Reid was a five-star recruit at IMG Academy. He was the No. 3 center and No. 27 prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. His senior year, he averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds as IMG put together a 25-0 regular season record. He played at Steward High in Richmond, before transferring to IMG. At Steward High, he averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks as a junior, earning Division II first team all-state honor as team finished 26-7.
Reid joins a Bulldog squad that advanced to their seventh-straight Sweet 16, the longest active streak in the nation. Gonzaga won 28 games, going 13-1 in West Coast Conference play, winning the league regular season title for the 10th straight season.
