SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga Volleyball found itself locked into a five-set battle with visiting Idaho State Thursday in the Bulldogs' home tournament opener at the Martin Centre, ultimately falling by just two points in fourth and fifth sets that both went long (25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-27, 16-18).

The Zags had more kills than the Bengals in each set for a season-high 61 and served up 11 aces, but a pair of late surges in the fourth and fifth sets undid an early lead that looked to put GU in control. 

Zoe Thiros continued to lead the way for the Bulldogs on offense, putting up a career-high 22 kills while Keau Kamake'eaina also notched a career-high of 52 assists. Kennedy Croft also hit double-digits, notching 17 kills to lead five other Zags who picked up at least five. McKenna Marshall added a team-high 25 digs, with Alisa Kim providing 24. 

Croft broke the program record for career service aces since 2004 (Rally Scoring Era) with her four on the day, and Marshall, Thiros and Kamake'eaina added two each. Croft now sits at seventh on the all-time aces list.
