SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga Volleyball Head Coach Katie Wilson announced the addition of a veteran presence to the Bulldogs' 2023 roster on Tuesday, with graduate transfer Parker Austin — one of the ACC's most productive servers in 2022 — set to enroll at GU this semester and play for the Zags in the Fall.

Over four seasons at UNC in which she saw action in over 87 games, Austin racked up 485 kills, 467 digs and 76 aces, most recently leading the Tar Heels in aces (42) and aces per set (.43) in 2022 — good for second-best in the ACC. Austin joins a recruiting class that already touts incoming freshman setter Nia Damuni.
The Canadian by way of Edmonton, Alberta played in 28 matches last season, making 15 starts and 98 set appearances while posting 63 kills, 29 total blocks, 27 block assists and two solo blocks to go with 103 digs and nine assists. She returned from injury in 2021 to become a staple of UNC's 2021 NCAA Tournament rotation after averaging a team-best 2.75 kills a set in the Spring 2021 season.
Her freshman season in 2019, Austin was named ACC Freshman of the Week and to the All-ACC Freshman Team after recording the second-most kills (256) and third-most digs (136) on the team, leading Carolina in double-doubles (6).
During her prep years at Harry Ainlay, Austin was a three-time metro Edmonton All-Star and MVP, playing for the Team Canada Youth Women and serving as captain of the U16 national team on the national level. She also excelled at handball, picking up Metro All-Star honors and helping her team to a provincial championship.
