No. 17/20 WBB Returns Home on Thursday to Host LMU

THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball returns back home to host Loyola Marymount University this Thursday, Jan. 26. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
- GU is coming off an 85-57 win over Saint Mary's on Jan. 21. to remain a perfect 9-0 in the WCC. Yvonne Ejim scored 24 points to lead all five starters in double figures and Kaylynne Truong had 14 points and five assists for the Bulldogs. Brynna Maxwell had 12 points and scored two three pointers. McKayla Williams added 11 points and Eliza Hollingsworth had 10.
- The Zags have four players currently averaging double digits in so far this season, including Yvonne Ejim (16.8), Kaylynne Truong (15.7), Brynna Maxwell (14.4), and Eliza Hollingsworth (10.3). Ejim currently is third and Truong is sixth in the WCC in scoring. Maxwell also is 10th in the conference.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 80.7 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks first in the country. Brynna Maxwell leads the team individually with 98.1 percent, which leads the nation. She currently has made 41-straight free throws in a row and has only missed one this year. 
- Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 51.8 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the country. 
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting a record breaking 41.2 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked first in the nation. 
- Kaylynne Truong is currently dishing out 5.3 assists a game to rank first in the conference and 21st in the country. Overall, she has recorded 111 assists which is good for 15th in the nation. She has also scored in double figures in 11-straight games, and 18 games total this year.
- Gonzaga is on an 12-game winning streak with its last loss being against No. 2 Stanford on Dec. 4. The streak ranks fifth in the country as the team sits in first-place in the WCC. The Zags are also undefeated at home this year at 10-0 and has won 15-straight in the Kennel. 
- GU is ranked 42nd in the country in scoring margin with 13.7 points and 30th in field goal percentage with 45.8 percent. 
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Seniors Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and junior Yvonne Ejim were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This will be the 75th matchup between the two programs and the Zags hold a 54-21 record over the Lions.    
STREAK: Gonzaga - 30    
FIRST MEETING: In 1985, the Zags won 100-78 on the road.    
LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs defeated LMU earlier this year on Dec. 31, 96-51. The Zags scored 60 points in the first half as four Zags scored in double figures.      

SCOUTING THE LIONS
- LMU is currently 5-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference.
- Ariel Johnson leads the way with 13.3 points a game and 89.8 percent from the free throw line. She currently ranks 13th in the WCC for her scoring efforts so far this season.
- Alexis Mark grabs a team-high average of 6.3 rebounds while also scoring 11.4 points a game.
- LMU's two wins in the WCC came against San Francisco and Saint Mary's.
- In preseason polls, LMU was picked to finish seventh in the WCC. Ariel Johnson was the one LMU player to be named to the All-WCC Preseason team as well.
