SPOKANE, Wash. — The No. 17 Gonzaga Bulldogs won its 31st straight win over LMU in the Kennel on Thursday night, 66-55.
Kaylynne Truong led the way with 19 points and
Yvonne Ejim scored 15 to extend GU's winning streak to 13 games.
In the first quarter, the Zags scored 10 points as Truong scored six of those. Despite trailing 13-10, the Bulldogs outrebounded the Lions 10-6 with
Eliza Hollingsworth grabbing two before she was injured three minutes into the game.
Ejim scored eight points in the second quarter to help outscore LMU, 18-13. The Zags held LMU to a 33 percent shooting performance in the second and didn't allow a player to score more than three points.
Going into the locker room, GU held a 28-26 lead. The team forced six turnovers from the Lions and outrebounded LMU 20-13 in the first half.
After a slower first half for the Zags, Gonzaga led by 10 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs scored 20 points in the third quarter as Truong went 3-for-4 from the floor and made a free throw to score eight of those points.
The Zags took control in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 18 points after five different players scored in the final 10 minutes.
Brynna Maxwell scored a team-high five points and hit a three-pointer to contribute to GU's 18-point fourth quarter.
Overall, Gonzaga forced 16 turnovers and held LMU to 40.9 percent from the floor. The Zags shot at 45.6 percent and outrebounded the Lions, 33-26. GU also scored 36 points from inside the paint and scored 24 points off turnovers.
Records: The Bulldogs won its 13-straight game and stays perfect in the West Coast Conference at 10-0 and improves to 20-2 overall. LMU falls to 5-16 and 2-8 in the WCC.
Brynna Maxwell scored a three-pointer today to extend her streak to scoring at least one in all 22 games this season.
Destiny Burton finished the game with a career-high in a Zags uniform with eight points and two rebounds.
Kaylynne Truong has scored in double figures for 12-straight games with 19 points today. Overall, she has scored in double digits in 19 games so far this season.
The Zags have won 16 games in-a-row at home.
