FORT WORTH, Texas – Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga men's tennis team began the ITA Kick-Off tournament when they faced No. 3 Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. This marks the first time since the 2019-2020 season that the Zags have performed in the ITA Kick-Off Tournament.
 
Opening with the doubles competition, Gonzaga battled against a talented TCU squad. On court two, TCU's Jake Fearnley and Luc Fomba earned a 6-2 victory over Gonzaga's Leon Roider and Arthus Bassetiere. Shortly after, TCU clinched the doubles point when Sebastian Gorzny and Pedro Vives defeated Gonzaga's Oliver Andersson and Pablo Gomez Galvan 6-3 on court three. With the doubles point already clinched, the court one match between #4 TCU's Sander Jong and Lui Maxted and Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja and Matthew Hollingworth went unfinished, ending with a score of 5-2.
 
Transitioning to the singles competition, Gonzaga continued to battle against stiff competition. In the No.1 spot, #8 Fearnley defeated Trkulja by a score of 6-3, 6-2. On court three, Andersson battled, losing a competitive match against Maxted by a score of 6-3, 6-3. TCU clinched the team victory when Tomas Jirousek earned a 7-5, 6-2 win over Hollingworth on court four.
 
With the match clinched for TCU, the remaining three singles matches were left unfinished.
 
Up next: The Gonzaga men's tennis team will continue their participation in the ITA Kick-Off tomorrow, when they face the University of Utah at 9 a.m. The Zags will return to the Stevens Center on February 4th, when they go against the University of Idaho at 2 p.m.

Records: With today's loss, the Zags record moves to 2-2 on the year. For TCU, their season record improves to 4-0. Today also marks the first time the Zags have faced the Horned Frogs, moving their historical record against TCU to 0-1.
