Zags and Huskies Play to 1-1 Draw

Campisi scores fifth goal of the season

Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's soccer earned a 1-1 draw with Washington in front of a large crowd at Luger Field Saturday.
 
The Bulldogs (2-5-6, 0-1-1 West Coast Conference) and UW met in a non-conference matchup with an attendance of 1,700 for their 35th all-time meeting. The tie ended a 14-game win streak for the Huskies in the series.
 
Washington's (5-4-4, 2-2-1 Pac-12) Nick O'Brien opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 13th minute.
 
The Zags responded in the 30th minute as Stefano Campisi found the back of the net for the fifth time this season. He slid a shot just past the UW keeper.
 
The teams combined for 16 shots, with both taking eight in the match. Washington put five shots on goal, while GU had one. UW had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Wessel Sprangers made three saves in the Gonzaga net, while Jadon Bowton finished with no saves for Washington. Campisi took two shots, and teammate Jelle Van Deijck also added two.
 
Gonzaga returns to conference play as it hosts Saint Mary's (5-5-2, 0-2-0 WCC) next Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus with live stats on GoZags.com.
