Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's soccer earned a 1-1 draw with Washington in front of a large crowd at Luger Field Saturday.
The Bulldogs (2-5-6, 0-1-1 West Coast Conference) and UW met in a non-conference matchup with an attendance of 1,700 for their 35
th all-time meeting. The tie ended a 14-game win streak for the Huskies in the series.
Washington's (5-4-4, 2-2-1 Pac-12) Nick O'Brien opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 13
th minute.
The Zags responded in the 30
th minute as
Stefano Campisi found the back of the net for the fifth time this season. He slid a shot just past the UW keeper.
The teams combined for 16 shots, with both taking eight in the match. Washington put five shots on goal, while GU had one. UW had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Wessel Sprangers made three saves in the Gonzaga net, while Jadon Bowton finished with no saves for Washington. Campisi took two shots, and teammate
Jelle Van Deijck also added two.
