Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer earned its 10
th win of the season in a 3-0 victory over San Francisco at Luger Field Saturday.
The Zags (10-2-1, 3-0-0 West Coast Conference) clinched their sixth 10-win season over the last seven seasons, with the exception being seven wins in the Spring 2020 shortened season. Gonzaga has won 10 or more games under Head Coach Chris Watkins six times out of seven seasons, with the exception being the shortened season. Prior to the last seven seasons, GU had five 10-win seasons in the program's history.
In Saturday's victory,
Giana Riley recorded two assists, her fourth and fifth of the season. The Bulldogs outshot the Dons 18-10, with a 10-2 advantage in shots goal. It was Gonzaga's third straight win over USF (4-6-2, 1-1-0 WCC), and all three were shutout victories. It was the Zags' sixth shutout of the season.
Paige Alexander opened the scoring in the 18
th minute. Her third goal of the season came off a rebound on a Riley blocked shot. In the 27
th minute, Riley recorded her ninth career assist that was curled around the USF keeper by
Maddie Kemp. It was Kemp's 20
th career goal, which ranks fifth all-time at GU.
Shelby Runje capped off the scoring in the 89
th minute with an assist to
Marissa Garcia.
The Zags forced Kira Ybarra into seven saves in the San Francisco net.
Lauren Towne made one save for the Bulldogs.
