Box Score MALIBU, Calif. – Gonzaga couldn't get its bats going in its West Coast Conference series opener with Pepperdine at Eddy D. Field on Friday, with the Waves (6-13, 1-3 WCC) rapping out 14 hits on route to a 15-0 win that snapped a seven-game skid and handed the Bulldogs (7-13, 3-1 WCC) their first conference loss.
Pepperdine capitalized on a season-high six walks from GU starter
Owen Wild, plating four runs in the first frame and four more unearned in the third to chase him from the game. Meanwhile, the Waves held a GU lineup that was averaging 15 hits and 8.7 runs per game over its WCC-opening series with San Francisco last weekend to just two hits, with starter Shane Telfer going six frames while striking out eight. Reliever Gunnar Nichols didn't allow a hit through three frames of relief, generating six flyouts and three grounders while striking out one.
