Bosselmann Signs with Washington Spirit

WASHINGTON D.C. – Former Gonzaga goalkeeper Lyza Bosselmann was one of six Washington Spirit first-year players that signed contracts for their active roster Wednesday. All six players have been training with the club during preseason camp since January.

Bosselmann signed a two-year contract with an option for 2025. She was the third goalkeeper selected in the 2023 draft, going 28th overall to the Spirit.

Bosselmann was the second Zag ever drafted into the NWSL, joining Jordan Thompson who was selected 50th in the fourth-round last season.

This past season, Bosselmann was named All-West Region and Academic All-District, along with First Team All-West Coast Conference and Academic All-WCC. She was also named the West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year.

Bosselmann tops the program's Top-10 in fewest goals allowed in season (13 in 2022) and in a career (47 since 2019). She is also first all-time at GU in career goals against average (0.86) and in a season (0.72). Bosselmann is second all-time at GU in career shutouts with 20 and eighth with 182 career saves.
