MTEN: Zags Fall to Pacific, 4-1

Gonzaga closes out the regular season next weekend against Portland

STOCKTON, Calif. – Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga men's tennis team faced the University of Pacific in a road conference dual match and fell 4-1. Following today's event, the Zags will look forward to celebrating Senior Day on April 22nd against Portland University.
 
In the doubles competition, Pacific's Peter Alam and Andre Rodeia earned a 6-1 court one win over Sasha Trkulja and Oliver Andersson. Gonzaga tied the doubles competition when Tom Hann and Pablo Gomez Galvan defeated Pacific's Coby McCaig and Tiago Silva by a score of 6-1 on court three. In the No.2 spot, Pacific clinched the doubles point when Terence Das and Ran Amar picked up a 7-5 victory against Gonzaga's Arthus Bassetiere and Leon Roider.
 
Moving to the singles competition, Pacific increased their lead when Ran Amar earned a 7-5, 6-1 win against Andersson on court two. Shortly after, Pacific's Manroop Saini claimed a 6-4, 6-2 court six victory over Gomez Galvan. Gonzaga earned their first team point of the day when Trkulja defeated Peter Alam, ending with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in the No.1 spot. Pacific clinched the team victory when Silva picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win against Hann on court four.
 
With Pacific having already clinched the team victory, all other remaining singles matches went unfinished.
 
Up next: The Gonzaga men's tennis team will conclude their regular season with a match against Portland on April 22 at 12 p.m. in the Stevens Center.

Records: Following today's match, the season record for the Zags drops to 8-11. For Pacific, their record on the year improves to 5-14 with the win. The historical record between the Zags and Tigers also moves to 2-9 in favor of Pacific.
