Big Showing in the 800m Highlights Zags' Outing at Peace Meet

Anderson, Tuckwood, Mukai all record Top-10 times

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga Men's and Women's track returned to Spokane this weekend for more competition in the Whitworth Peace Meet, with Alicia Anderson, Carp Mukai and Sadie Tuckwood putting down top 10 all-time performances in the 800m.

Following her 4 minutes, 24.17 second outing in the 1,500m last weekend at the Stanford Invitational, Anderson ran 2:11.49 to finish second in the women's 800 race, moving her to No. 2 all-time in program history. The senior opened with a 64 second split on her first 400, then closed with a 66 second final lap to run a new personal best effort.

Tuckwood ran 2:14.41 to finish fifth overall, placing her No. 7 on the all-time list. Following Tuckwood were two more Zags in the top 10, with Lucy Klebeck finishing eighth in 2:17.78 and Alyssa Bienfang finishing ninth in 2:18.61. Taylor Biondi (2:24.05, 22nd), Karina Smith (2:24.40, 23rd) and Paxton DePoe (2:31.56, 37th) rounded out the other Zag competitors in the field.

Mukai also secured a second-place finish in the men's 800, running 1:53.73 to move to No. 10 on the all-time list. Mukai took the race out in 57.32 seconds and closed in a negative split of 56.41 seconds on the final 400.

Kate Donaldson led four Zags into the top 10 of the women's 1,500, with Donaldson finishing fourth in 4:43.16, Makenna Edwards placing fifth in 4:44.19, Elizabeth Brands placing seventh in 4:47.69 and Georgi Brady earning 10th in 4:48.50. Trailing those four were Emily Phelps (4:49.17, 12th), Tate Beasley (4:58.10, 21st) and Kate Ferrell (5:01.41, 24th).
Quentin Rickey picked up 12th place finish in the men's 3,000 steeplechase, running 9:51.77. James Power earned 17th in 10:14.45.

Leighton Joy and Ashlinn Aguayo finished 11th and 13th, respectively, in the women's 400, with Joy running 1:02.74 and Aguayo running 1:03.56.

Jackson Lyne finished second overall in the men's 1,500m in a time of 3:55.56. Will Thorsett ran 14:56.99 to finish third in the men's 5,000.
