Samperi Named CSC Academic All-District

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga senior catcher Ezra Samperi was named to College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team for 2023, the outlet announced this week.
Majoring in Kinesiology with a 3.98 cumulative GPA since joining the Bulldogs last season, Samperi was named the Gonzaga Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in recognition of his academic accomplishments. He has accumulated an impressive academic resume in just two years, making the President's List each semester, earning an WCC All-Academic First Team nod, and becoing a member of Chi Alpha Sigma student-athlete honors society. He's started 35 games at catcher for GU this season, driving in 16 runs with nine extra base hits in that span.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 7.
