Cassie Kim was two-over (74) in Tuesday's second round of the NCAA Pullman Regional. The Zag senior is in a tie for 47
th entering the final round at Palouse Ridge Golf Club Wednesday.
After carding a 73 in the first round, Kim's second round featured 14 pars and a birdie on Hole 9 to close the round. She started on the 10
th hole for the second straight day, going two-over on the first nine holes of the round and even-par on the final nine holes. The Yakima, Wash., native, has made 24 pars through 36 holes, and is even-par on the course's five Par-3 holes.
The nation's No. 1-ranked golfer, Rose Zhang of Stanford remained atop the leaderboard after two rounds. She is 12-under (132) after carding a 68 (-4) on Day 2. Texas Tech's Shannon Tan is a stroke behind at 11-under (133) and Stanford's Sadie Englemann is 10-under (134). Thirty-two golfers are under-par in Pullman, while the other five regionals around the country have a combined 50 golfers currently under-par.
Top-ranked Stanford has a dominant lead on the 12-team field in Pullman entering the final round. The Cardinal was 14-under (274) Tuesday and sit at 35-under (541) after 36 holes. Texas Tech is in second at 17-under (559), with No. 24 Clemson third at 15-under (561).
Regional play is taking place May 8-10 at six regional sites, with a total of 396 student-athletes competing. All six regional sites will have 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site, 156 student-athletes total, will advance to play in the national championships to be played May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The third and final round begins at 8 a.m. Kim will start on the 10
