Zags Score Seven Times in Win at Hawaii

Riley scores twice and records assist, Doyle scores twice

WAIPAHU, Hawaii – Gonzaga women's soccer completed the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff with a 7-5 victory over host Hawaii Sunday. The seven goals match the third-most all-time at GU, and the most since a 7-0 win at Portland State in 2021.
 
Giana Riley had two goals and an assist for the Zags (2-0-0), Kate Doyle scored twice, and Kelsey Oyler was credited with two assists.
 
Both teams took 16 shots, with the Bulldogs having a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal. GU took eight of the match's nine corner kicks.
 
After scoring first in the season-opening win Thursday, Doyle found the back of the net in the 23rd minute and Oyler recorded her first assist of the game. Riley scored her sixth career goal in the 41st minute on a penalty kick.
 
Four minutes into the second half, Amber Gilbert scored for the Rainbow Wahine (0-1-1). Kelci Sumida and Cate Sheahan were credited with assists.
 
Two minutes later, Doyle scored her 11th career goal with an assist from Riley. Maddie Kemp found the back of the net in the 59th minute with Oyler's 10th career assist. Kemp moved to ninth in program history with her 15th career goal and eighth with her 40th career point. Oyler is now 10th in career assists.
 
Marissa Garcia scored in the 66th minute, and Isabelle Moultray put Gonzaga ahead 6-1 five minutes later with an assist from Kristen Puels.
 
Sheahan had Hawaii's second goal in the 75th minute. Riley scored on another penalty kick in the 78th minute. Hawaii reeled off three goals in the final eight minutes, with two from Mia Foster.
 
Lauren Towne and Faith Fenwick both made a save for the Zags, while Sophie Augustin had five for the Rainbow Wahine.
 
Gonzaga hosts it first regular season game Thursday against Weber State at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus and live stats will be on GoZags.com.
