SPOKANE, Wash. – In West Coast Conference season-opening games for both teams, Loyola Marymount picked up a 1-0 road victory over Gonzaga men's soccer Saturday.
The Lions (5-1-4, 1-0-0 West Coast Conference) remained unbeaten on the road (3-0-3) this season with the win.
Ignacio Macias scored the game-winner in the 65
th minute. After a scoreless first 64 minutes, the freshman found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career.
Loyola Marymount outshot GU 13-8, with a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Ian Silva led the Bulldogs with a match-high four shots and two on goal.
Wessel Sprangers made five saves in the Gonzaga (2-5-4, 0-1-0 WCC) net. LMU's Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi had three saves.
The Zags visit San Francisco (5-2-3, 0-1-0) next Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus, with live stats on GoZags.com.
