SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Braden Huff scored a career-high 26 points and the Gonzaga men's basketball team eased to a 105-63 win at San Diego Saturday.
The Bulldogs (13-5, 4-1 West Coast Conference) used an early 22-0 run to jump ahead 33-9 midway through the first half and never looked back. GU finished 56.5 percent from the field, including 10-of-25 from behind-the-arc. The Zags made 63.6 percent from the field in the first half and led 54-27 at halftime.
Huff was 12-of-17 from the field in 20 minutes. He was one of six Bulldogs to finish in double-digit scoring.
Ben Gregg made his second collegiate start and had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Anton Watson scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards, and
Ryan Nembhard was the third Zag to finish with a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists. Nembhard's 12 assists came with no turnovers.
Nolan Hickman and
Dusty Stromer added 13 and 11 points, combining for six made threes.
Gonzaga outrebounded San Diego 51-29, and had a 54-30 advantage in points in the paint. The Zags dished out 28 assists on their 39 made shots from the field.
San Diego (10-10, 0-5 WCC) was led by Wayne McKinney III's 17 points.
The Bulldogs return home after three straight road games and host San Francisco (15-5, 4-1) Thursday at 6 p.m. The Dons fell at home to Saint Mary's Saturday, 77-60.
