BERKELEY, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team completed competition today at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, with two doubles pairings battling in the Round of 16 and five Zags playing consolation singles bouts.
In the doubles matches, Norhan Hesham/Brooke Bittner fell 8-4 to UW and Emily Robertson/Ella Nielsen dropped their match 8-5 to Stanford. Emily Robertson bounced back in singles play, handling UC Davis in straight sets.
Rose Hayes, Norhan Hesham, Brooke Bittner, and Safien Boulonois could not prevail in consolation singles matches, with the latter falling in a thrilling battle. Boulonois dropped the first set, then rallied to take the second frame. In consolation play, all singles matches used a tiebreaker instead of a third set. Duru Durgun of SJSU outlasted Boulonois 13-11 in the tiebreaker.
Up next: The Bulldogs will host the Gonzaga Invitational starting on Fri. Oct. 25.
